Scouting is a global educational movement that aims to instill positive values and skills in young people, preparing them to become responsible citizens and leaders in society.
Scouting was officially founded in British India in 1909.
First started at BISHOP COTTON BOYS’s SCHOOL in BANGALORE. Scouting for native Indians was started by JUSTICE VIVIAN BOSE, PANDIT MADAN MOHAN MALVIYA, PANDIT HRIDAYANATH KUNZRU, GIRIJA SHANKAR BAJPAI, ANNIE BESANT AND GEORGE ARUNDALE in 1913. Prior to this date, scouting was open only for British and Foreign Scout. In 1916,a cub section was stared followed by the rover section in 1918.
It was established in 1914 when RUSTOMJI EDULJI SETHNA (1894-1954) came across the book scouting for boys written by ROBERT BADEN POWELL, the founder of the Scout movement. He was enamoured by the book and formed one of India’s first scout groups for native boys. He wrote to BADEN POWELL about this discrepancy.
BADEN POWELL and his sister AGNES BADEN POWELL introduced the Girl Guides in 1910, a parallel movement for girls, sometimes named Girl Scouts. AGNES BADEN POWELL became the first president of the girls who attended the crystal Palace Rally.
In 1928, the All India Girls Guides and Girl Scouts as one of its founder members. This membership was renewed in 1948 after the independence of India and its partition.

Another widely recognized movement characteristics, is the Scout uniform, by intent hiding all differences of social standing in a country and making for equally with neckerchief and campaign hat or comparable headwear. Distinctive uniform insigna include the fluer-de-lis and trefoil as well as badges and other patches.
